Also, there are many surgeries that used to be done in the hospital that can now be performed in our office – saving you time and money!

IUD Insertion and Removal

Intrauterine devices, or IUDs, are small devices placed in your uterus to prevent pregnancy. Also referred to as long-term reversible birth control, IUDs require no effort from you to maintain, and they can be removed by your doctor at any time. This longer-acting birth control is quickly reversible if you decide you want to try to get pregnant.

However, there are risks associated with IUDs that you should know about. Talk to us to determine if an IUD is right for you.
Colposcopy

Colposcopy is a way of looking at the cervix through a special magnifying device called a colposcope. It shines a light into the vagina and onto the cervix. A colposcope can greatly enlarge the normal view. This exam allows your physician to find problems that cannot be seen by the eye alone.

Sonohystogram

Sonohysterography is a special kind of ultrasound exam. Saline solution is put into the uterus through the cervix using a thin plastic tube. Sound waves are then used to create images of the lining of the uterus. The fluid helps show more detail than when ultrasound is used alone. This test usually takes less than 30 minutes.

Laparoscopic Tubal Ligation
Diagnostic and Operative Laparoscopy

Diagnostic laparoscopy is a surgical procedure that doctors use to view a woman’s reproductive organs. A laparoscope, a thin viewing tube similar to a telescope, is passed through a small incision (cut) in the abdomen. Using the laparoscope, the doctor can look directly at the outside of the uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, and nearby organs.
Hysterectomy
Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus, which may or may not include the cervix. For many women undergoing a hysterectomy, there is no need to remove the ovaries (oophorectomy). It is the removal of the ovaries that causes menopause. Hysterectomy does NOT put a woman in menopause.

Hysterectomy may be done by different approaches or different incision types. The incision approach is the biggest factor in minimally invasive hysterectomy. Your physician will help you decide which type of hysterectomy is most appropriate for you, depending on your medical history and the reason for your surgery.
The different types of hysterectomies include:

Abdominal Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy performed through a large, open abdominal incision

Vaginal Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy done through a vaginal incision

Laparoscopic Assisted Vaginal Hysterectomy (LAVH)
A hysterectomy performed with laparoscopic (small abdominal) incisions and a vaginal incision, with the vaginal incision being closed from the vaginal approach

Total Laparoscopic Hysterectomy (TLH)
A hysterectomy performed completely through laparoscopic incisions, with the vaginal incision closed from the laparoscopic approach

da Vinci® Robotic Hysterectomy
A hysterectomy performed through laparoscopic incisions (small incisions in the abdomen) but using the advanced technology of the robotic surgical system.
Myomectomy

Surgical procedure used to remove benign masses (fibroids) from the uterus. A myomectomy is performed in cases where it is desirable for the patient to retain the uterus. Depending on their size, location, and depth, fibroids may be removed through an open abdominal incision or through a laparoscope or hysteroscope.
